Heading up to Microcenter this weekend to refresh my RPI devices to PI 5's.
Will the Retroprinter module and software work OK with one? Board software doesn't let me search for "pi 5"...
Is raspberry pi 5 supported?
Re: Is raspberry pi 5 supported?
We have not tried it on a Raspberry Pi 5 so have no idea if it will work.
It probably will work, but there is no way of knowing (as we do not own a Pi5). Download the software image and check that the Pi5 starts up - so far as I know the executables should work on any Pi now.
The software works on a Pi4, but due to the layout changes, the Pi4 and Pi5 do not fit in our cases.

Re: Is raspberry pi 5 supported?
The old SD card booted in my RPI5 but capture isn't working.
The newest software download on the web page crashes at boot on my RPI5 with "libsystemd-core-252.so ELF load command address/offset not page-aligned
Interestingly though, the newest software download works on my Raspberry Pi 3?
So something with the 5 is definitely not working right...

Re: Is raspberry pi 5 supported?
https://github.com/ptitSeb/box86/issues/912
https://github.com/raspberrypi/bookworm ... 1773810662
Looks like adding
kernel=kernel8.img
to config.txt fixed this, it's a "16kb page size" issue of some sort particular to PI5...

Re: Is raspberry pi 5 supported?
Retroprinter binaries don't seem to be launching on RPI5.

Re: Is raspberry pi 5 supported?
Looks like it's an issue with "wiringPi", which has been updated to support RPI 5 but it does say:
On the Pi 5, only the GCLK functionality is currently not supported due to missing documentation of the RP1 chip).
No idea if gclk is important to your project. I guess it's time to sit back and see if this is something trivial for you to fix!

Re: Is raspberry pi 5 supported?
We don't use gclk as such but we do read all of the GPIO pins so it probably uses the same signals.
Those messages about consult Google are not ours so must be the wiringpi unfortunately
It might be that we just need to update wiring pi and recompile everything.
I shall try it tomorrow - pm me your email address and I will send you the binaries to try.
